Interview with Imam Shuaib Ud-Din, of Utah Islamic Center

I, Mano Bakh, had an appointment with the Imam of Utah Islamic Center, Imam Shuaib Ud-Din.  We agreed to a have a private meeting at 11:00 AM Sunday April 10, 2011, in the Utah Islamic Center. The Utah Islamic Center was located in the corner of a commercial building in Salt Lake City. Upon entering the building, I observed several small classrooms filled with many children from age 6 to 12. There were several male and female instructors, all in Islamic attire. Imam Shuaib was in the larger classroom, sitting in the center, surrounded by his students. He came toward the door as soon as he saw me. We greeted each other and he led me to a small office where there was a desk and a computer with two chairs and another gentleman who was working behind the desk. Continue reading

Let’s examine Shariah, who supports Shariah in the United States of America?

In America, polygamy and domestic abuse are happening behind closed doors. Cases involving the practice of Shariah continue to be revealed. Perhaps, the silent support for Shariah is more significant than realized and protected by the moderate Muslims who simply fail to unite and report the abhorrent behavior of Islamic law, Shariah. They remain quiet about their knowledge of Muslims who secretly practice Shariah within their Muslim communities and Mosques. It is time for them to speak out. Do they remain quiet because of fear? Concerned American Citizens Let Your Voices Be Heard

Lost among the mainstream media and people who try to make this an issue of church and state are the following facts:

United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary

At the present time, Shia and other non-Wahhabi Muslim community leaders estimate that 80 percent of American mosques out of a total ranging between an official estimate of 1,200 and an unofficial figure of 4-6,000 – are under Wahhabi control.

This does not mean 80 percent of American Muslims support Wahhabism, although the main Wahhabi ideological agency in America , the so-called Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has claimed that some 70 percent of American Muslims want Wahhabi teaching in their mosques. This is, by the way, a claim that cannot be substantiated.

Do you believe you understand Sharia Law? I bet you Don’t

By Christopher Holton

Vice President, Center for Security PolicyThere is a term which you may have seen or heard mentioned in the news, the blogosphere or on talk radio lately that you should know more about: Shariah. (Sometimes spelled Sharia or Shari’a, as well as some other variations.)

Background: What Exactly Is Shariah?

Polling done by Family Security Group back in 2008 indicated that only 3% of Americans were even aware of the term Shariah—and an even smaller percentage actually knew what it was.

So we will begin with a basic description of Shariah.

Shariah, often referred to as “Islamic Law,” is in actuality a legal doctrine  based on the Quran and Hadiths (sayings and acts of Mohammed),  but one which goes far beyond what Westerners would regard as religious matters or routine legal matters.

Shariah covers all aspects of life, including criminal law, domestic law, statecraft and warfare (Jihad). Shariah encompasses personal ethics and legal issues, religion and state governance, this world and the afterlife. Shariah is said to enforce the will of Allah, as opposed to the will of humans. Shariah regulates belief, speech and religious practice, criminal and legal matters, and other fields including finance and war. There is no such thing as a separate secular authority or secular law under doctrinal Shariah, since religion and state are not distinct, but are one.
